Today, SPC has eight learning sites throughout Pinellas County and recently became the first college in Florida to offer a four-year degree in Dental Hygiene. This program’s offerings augment its two-year program, which has been in operation since 1963. Membership is open, without audition, to all students interested in the preparation and performance of the best major works in the choral repertoire. Enrollment usually numbers sixty voices or more, with class meetings on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 10:50to 11:40; or Monday evenings from 7:00 – 9:00. Basic techniques of ensemble singing are developed through group and sectional rehearsals. This training, and the preparation of works for performance, with the experience inherent in the learning process, take precedence. Basic repertoire and rehearsal techniques, valuable tools in the music profession, are also stressed. CoMotion Dance Theater is the resident dance company at St. Petersburg college and is locally recognized for their professional quality performances. Established in 1985, CoMotion is under the co-direction of Nancy Feagans-Smith and Cynthia Hennessy. The dance company gives two on-campus and five to six off-campus dance concerts per year. SPC students audition for membership to CoMotion at the beginning of each semester and are required to enroll in our credit-earning Dance Repertory II course.
